OA Mentoring Programme
The Old Abingdonian Club exists to maintain OAs’ links to the School and to each other, so that both current and past pupils may continue to benefit from their association.
The OA Mentoring Programme seeks to foster new inter-generational links within this community, in order to help those OAs at an early stage of their careers to benefit from the experience of mentoring from more experienced OAs.
Mentoring provides long-term, hands-on commitment to encourage, advocate, and create advancement opportunities for individuals. A mentor can help to enhance an individual’s effectiveness in the workplace as well as their career through:
Coaching - counselling the mentee through workplace situations
Networking - exposing the mentee to other individuals
Skill enhancement - supporting the mentee in the development or enhancement of skills
Career development - guiding the mentee through identifying career goals and aspirations and identifying steps to achieving those goals
Identify opportunities for career progression
