Geoffrey became ARCO at age 14, and in 1987 became organ scholar at Westminster Abbey, and then at Christchurch, Oxford. After university he worked for 2 years at the Opéra de Paris and then moved to the Opéra National de Bordeaux (ONB) as assistant Chorus Master. In 2002 he was appointed Associate Conductor at ONB...a post he held for over 10 years, amassing a repertoire of over 60 operas. He was also a principal conductor for the Orchestre Nationale de Bordeaux Aquitaine.
In 2013 he left ONB to work freelance on a broader spectrum of music which ranged from grand ballet and opera to film music. Among others, he variously conducted the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris; Opera North, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra in the UK; the Sao Carlos Orchestra in Lisbon: the orchestras of Monte Carlo, Lyon, Strasbourg, Toulon and the Auvergne: the Orchestre Nationale de France,: the Royal Danish Orchestra,: the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and the Real Philharmonia de Galicia. He also worked with percussionist Alasdair Molloy on much admired educational shows for, children; with Stacey Kent at the Monte Carlo Jazz Festival; as conductor for Jane Birkin on her 'Gainsbourg Symphonique' world tour at the London Barbican Centre, at Carnegie Hall NYC, with the Radio France Symphony Orchestra and in Liège, Belgium: and with violinist Renaud Capuçon and the Lamoureux Orchestra at the Olympia in Paris.
