Upper Sixth pupil Jacob has earned a prestigious Rugby Scholarship to Brunel University through the Ealing Trailfinders Professional Rugby Partnership. This collaboration between Ealing Trailfinders Rugby and Brunel University, London, provides an outstanding opportunity for academic and performance rugby development, seamlessly integrating high-performance sport and a professional pathway with one of the UK’s top ten academic universities.

Jacob becomes the third Abingdon School pupil in as many seasons to secure a Rugby Scholarship at Brunel University, following in the footsteps of last season’s Player of the Year, Ollie, and 2023 Player of the Year, Joshua.

Jacob’s achievement marks a significant milestone in his rugby journey, having represented Gloucester Rugby Academy in the recent U18 Premiership Rugby Academy League. As he embarks on this next chapter, Jacob aims to contribute to Brunel University’s ambition of becoming a leading force in the national BUCS Rugby Premiership.

Reflecting on his time at Abingdon School, Jacob expressed his gratitude for the support and opportunities he has received. “Having started playing rugby in Abingdon School’s U12s, I have loved every moment of my journey. The opportunities to play top schoolboy rugby, tour internationally, and progress through external player pathways have been invaluable. I am so grateful for the mentorship and coaching that have guided me in my academic and sporting career whilst at Abingdon,” said Jacob.

Matthew Gold, Abingdon School’s Director of Rugby, praised Jacob’s progression: “Jacob’s development has been fantastic to witness, from his early days in our First Year right through to the 1st XV. We take immense pride in seeing a pupil rise through our Abingdon Lower School ranks to the Senior School and beyond with such ambition and potential. We have high hopes for Jacob’s continued success at Brunel University and wish him every success in his future rugby career.”
