Every Friday, the music department hosts informal concerts that provide a fantastic platform for musicians at all levels. These weekly events offer a relaxed environment where performers of all ages and skill levels can try out new pieces on all instruments, and prepare for upcoming exams. The concerts are an invaluable opportunity to gain stage experience in a relaxed atmosphere. This week marked the final concert of the term, with an all-double bass performance. The concert featured a variety of students playing solo pieces as well duets and even a double bass quartet. The performance ended with the double bass teacher, Elizabeth Harré, and The Head, Mike Windsor, playing a duet, providing an inspiring and fitting conclusion to this term’s informal lunchtime concerts. These informal concerts are a testament to the vibrancy of the music department. The regular performances demonstrate just how many opportunities there are for musicians in the school to build confidence and get their repertoire up to a higher standard. The lively nature of these concerts serves as a reminder of the dynamic and engaging atmosphere in the music department, where creativity, collaboration, and performance go hand in hand.
