“One of my fondest memories of my time at Abingdon is of the evening services taken by James Cobban, especially at Christmas. On these occasions he would read appropriate pieces of writing by, among others, Charles Dickens. He would dim the Chapel lights making for a wonderfully atmospheric moment of peaceful calm, never to be forgotten.”
Evoking the spirit of James Cobban’s Christmas pasts, the OA Club and Abingdon’s Development team hosted a candlelit service of carols and readings from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on Friday 1 December in the school Chapel.
The service was followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the Charles Maude Room.
