Alan Beadle 1929-2026

Alan died peacefully on 24 January aged 96. After leaving School he served his National Service with the RAF as a radar technician, after that he joined AERE as a nuclear chemist. During his time with AERE he spent a year at Chalk River Laboratories in Ontario, Canada and in 1957 he was part of the international team working at the Nobel Institute of Physics in Stockholm that claimed to have discovered Nobelium. When his superior at AERE left to take up a post in the USA, Alan left as well and joined the family business Beadles in Ock Street.
